Movie Location: Palazzo Barberini
Filming Location: Palazzo Brancaccio
View to: Unknown
Object or Scene: Palace interior
Although I do not find any pictures of this specific location, the decoration looks enough like P. Brancaccio, and so many other interiors were filmed there, I'm confident in the identification.

Success! On February 18, 2009 I received an email from Antonio Barbieri of Concierge in Rome (www.conciergeinrome.com) in answer to a plea for help I had sent him a few weeks before.
He visited Palazzo Brancaccio and sent pictures confirming this location. It is the rear facade, on the interior, garden side of the palazzo.

I think this is the Hall of Mirrors at P. Brancaccio. Visible in the promotional videos linked to from the previous page.

But, given all the preceding, I assume P. Brancaccio.

Could this be a set? Looks pretty elaborate. Only a visit to P's Barberini and Brancaccio could tell us for sure.

"This is positively the rear of Palazzo Barberini. The gigantic coat of arms against the wall in the background [on the ground, just to the left of Ann] is at http://members.tripod.com/romeartlover/Vasi36.html#Garden."

"The Report for Monday, 4 August [195]2 lists a Cinecittą location for …INT CELLAR STEPS AND DOOR…but with no mention of a male cast member other than the principal players. However, antmoose has posted a photo at http://flickr.com/photos/antmoose/5584722/in/photostream/ with a suggestive caption. "Just before the ramp starts to rise up into the gardens, it passes through this late-C17 vestibule which has two menacing staircases on either side. They seem to want to break your legs." The ramp referred to is the one mentioned below.

At first it seemed odd that the Report made no mention of the actor in this scene. The Report for Wednesday, August 27 says, "EXT. EMBASSY GATES, Barberini Palace. Cast: (+) M. Arena previously worked 3 days with II Unit at the Barberini Palace." But not, apparently, at Cinecittą. Perhaps the "CELLAR STEPS" refers to some other scene shot but not used?

"It's amazing what one can find on the World Wide Web. antmoose has posted this exact same view at http://flickr.com/photos/93226994@N00/5584691. "palazzo barberini inside porch by antmoose.
I'm taking the photo standing on the ramp leading up under the palace through its portico and ending in the statue of the Apollo Barberini. In the distance can be seen one of the fountains commissioned by the Barberini family."

Indeed, the fountain seen previously is in the yard just behind the gatepost seen here.
The Roman Holiday page at www.imcdb.org identifies the delivery truck as a "Moto Guzzi Ercole."

This is via Rasella. via Giardini does not have this view of the gates. The two streets are next to each other. Somebody goofed.

See above. Of course, the implication is that this is on the way to Piazza Repubblica (Piazza Esedra in the Reports) so its Movie Location could be anywhere between the two points.
